I want to support children with there sexual development. On a
way that fits there age. School-based sexuality education materials
often appear stiff and way too serious. To respond to this, I created
a sexual educational package compiled with teaching materials.
The textile references the naked body without actually showing
the body. Doing so allows the viewer to interpret this image and
avoids stepping on the sensitive toes of the censorship committee.

I created an accessible and fun educational package bound together
for our modern society. It’s anatomically-correct sexual education
for young girls to get knowledge about their physical development.
These educational tools will be used to shape lessons for children.
Embroidery design is a VERY exciting method! I really like this
method because it allows you to create more detailed designs.
I didn’t want to use regular paper as a medium but I wanted an
aesthetic appear. I wanted to find a way to translate the sexual
information in a more tangible form. It had to be elegant, girly
and feminine. It has to achieves both privacy and openness.
The idea of printing fabric always seemed so mysterious to me,
because it seemed like a complicated and time-consuming process.
Over the years, I became more and more interested in different
methods & types of textile printing and I also taught myself to sew.
In terms of textile materials, I opted to tulle and Lyca. Because
this are refined fabrics and because of their transparency.
I used different fabrics and layered them on top of each other,
which gives a 3D effect and associates more with the reality.
I’m a very curious and eager person that always wants to try other
techniques and materials that are new to me. In my past my sub-
conscious mind always seemed to take me to fabric related places.
After daydreaming for several months about owning an embroidery machine
and researching embroidery design, I finally took the plunge and bought
my dream machine -which now belongs to me- and I LOVE it!
A whole different world opens up when you open the sexual education book.
The book has a structure of different layers. Gradually the book gives more
intimate information about puberty to finally arrive to the most intimate
parts of the human body. At the end of the book the girl should be in
harmony with her own body.
